Dark Star Orchestra returns to the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom after a long absence. Last time, DSO was on June 30th & July 1st, 2024. We can't say how excited we are for their return this year.
If you haven't been fortunate enough to see them live in concert, now is your chance. The band was formed in Chicago in 1997. Since then, they have been recreating the Grateful Dead Concert Experience. They will play the exact set lists from the historical concerts of the Grateful Dead.
The band currently consists of Rob Barraco (keyboardist & guitar), who played with Phil Lesh and Friends, the original Grateful Dead Band in 2002 & 2003, and Chris Robinson's New Earth Med.
Rob Eaton, guitarist, has been involved in the Grateful Dead community since the 70s.
Dino English, drummer, studied percussion and played jazz music in college.
Rob Koritz, drummer and percussionist, was trained in classical percussion at the University of Arizona.
Lisa Mackey, vocalist, started her career in the chi-town music scene, where she played in many Grateful Dead-esque bands, which sparked her love for the culture and music of the Dead.
Jeff Mattson, lead guitarist, has been a student of Jerry Garcia's guitar playing style since the 70s. Jeff has played with Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Merl Saunders, and many more. He is known for delivering heart-wrenching vocals.
Skip Vangelas, bass guitarist, played with Rob Easton in Border Legion and filled in on bass for four Colorado shows in 2001. He did extremely well and was invited to join the band full-time.
Dark Star Orchestra pays homage to the Grateful Dead every time they step on the stage. Some even say it's the closest show you can get to a Dead show.
