In 1998 John Butler was busking on the streets of Fremantle, West Australia. 3500 self funded cassette sales served as the foundation for becoming Australia's most successful independent artist ever.
Fast forward to 2011 and his label Jarrah Records has now been responsible for one million sales in Australia.
Home to other artists such as The Waifs, Jarrah Records continues to pave the way for independent artists in Australia.

Butler owns and operates his own record label- Jarrah Records— which has released the John Butler Trio’s last five studio albums, two live albums, two DVD’s and his first self titled album. 2003’s ‘Sunrise Over Sea’ was the first independently released album to reach number one in Australia, and, like the band’s fourth album ‘Grand National’, went on to enjoy multi-platinum success. In 2010 John Butler released the trio’s fifth studio album
‘April Uprising’ this was the band’s third consecutive album to debut at number one on the national Australian ARIA album charts.

JBT have taken their music to the world and continue to grow in stature and popularity in USA, Europe and Japan. They have become favourites at iconic festivals such as Fuji Rock Festival, Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, Big Day Out, and Coachella where Bruce Fessier of USA Today said "John Butler revealed himself to be arguably the finest guitarist at Coachella Festival". The John Butler Trio are thrilled to have played many European festivals and delivered main stage performances at New Orleans Jazz Festival and Lollapalooza. In June 2010 the band played their largest headlining show ever at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado USA, this concert was captured in its entirety and will be released on July 22nd 2011 as an exquisite 2 CD 1 DVD box set.

John was honoured to be asked to programme and headline the main stage at the annual East Coast Blues Festival, held in Byron Bay in April 2009. It was a celebratory affair marking their 20th anniversary and Ben Harper was the only other artist to be similarly honoured. The John Butler Trio also played three other Australian festivals and these were significant as the final shows with bass player Shannon Birchall and drummer Michael Barker.

In June 2009 John revealed the new line up for the Trio which includes bass player Byron Luiters, who has been a member of Sydney outfit The Ray Man Three and Nicky Bomba on drums and percussion who was the principal drummer on JBT’s 5 x platinum Sunrise Over Sea album.

John took to the Northern Hemisphere to perform a series of solo shows in July 2009, including the prestigious Montreal Jazz Festival for the first time along with other great festivals including Rothbury and the Mile High Festival in Denver. He returned to Australia in August to perform at the Cannot Buy My Soul Concert with a long list of talented local musicians taking to the stage to reinterpret the wonderful catalogue of Kev Carmody.

In April 2010 the John Butler Trio globally released ‘April Uprising’, the band’s fifth studio album. Well embraced by fans and media alike the album has received unsurpassed reviews in all markets around the world. ‘One Way Road’, the first single released from the album received a massive amount of airplay in Australia and took out the number one spot on the national airplay chart on January 7th 2010, the day the sold out single tour commenced for the band. The track was chosen for the summer campaign for Channel 10’s new 24 hour sports channel, Channel One.

Coolest Summer Ever - New AC
CASINO BALLROOM INSTALLS NEW HVAC SYSTEM, BOOSTS ENERGY EFFICIENCY Concert Attendees Will Enjoy More Comfortable Temperatures This Summer Thanks to Infrastructure Upgrades Hampton, N.H., June 4, 2014 - The Casino Ballroom, one of the oldest live music and comedy venues in the country, has completed major infrastructure upgrades that will offer concert-goers a more comfortable environment in which to see their favorite artists perform this summer. Working closely with Unitil, a provider of natural gas and electricity in New England, the Casino Ballroom has taken a number of steps to reduce the energy required to cool the building. First, GDS Associates, Inc. completed an energy audit of the building, which presented unique solutions for not only drastically increasing the venue's cooling capacity by 18 tons, but also ways to vent heat from "trouble spots," such as those that result from hot stage lighting used during shows. These upgrades, installed by J. Lawrence Hall Company, will allow for greater temperature control and a more comfortable viewing experience at shows in the venue, even on the summer's hottest days. Innovations include: - A new, highly efficient HVAC unit and economizer, which will increase total cooling output - New, cooler LED stage lighting that will generate less heat as wasted energy - Improved airflow to let excess heat from inside the venue escape more easily "Our goal is to provide the best possible live concert experience in New Hampshire for fans and for performers," said Andrew Herrick, director of marketing, Casino Ballroom. "We're thrilled with the infrastructure upgrades that have been made to our building, and, simply put, the results are incredible. The room will be much more comfortable on hot summer nights, and our overall energy consumption actually went down slightly, even with the added cooling capacity". The Casino Ballroom was one of Unitil's first electric customers in 1900, which means the landmark venue has been a Unitil customer for almost 114 years. "At Unitil, we're proud to help local companies like the Casino Ballroom improve customer experience through innovative energy-efficiency solutions," said Tim Noonis, senior business development manager, Unitil. "The Casino Ballroom is a premiere entertainment venue, and these new improvements guarantee that fans will continue to enjoy world-class shows here for years to come."

2014 Concert Series
After this long winter we are thrilled that the 2014 Budweiser Concert Series is finally here. Kicking things off with a sold out Experience Hendrix show was the perfect way to "defrost". This will be a very special year at the Ballroom. Thanks to a partnership with Unitil we were able to significantly increase our air conditioning to keep things cool while the bands heat up. We have also made a huge change to the stage that will allow us to incorporate more touring production when your favorite artists stop by to play. With shows announcing each week and over 50 shows on sale now there is going to be something for everyone on the beach this summer! We look forward to seeing you.
